Types of evaluation: We provide psychological evaluations for a variety of concerns, including:
Evaluation of a child’s behavior, emotions, and interactions with others :
Assess the child’s behavior, emotions, and interactions with other children and adults, in the context of their home, school, and community, and make recommendations to improve and restore the child’s adjustment and functioning. This includes assessment of children who experience
· family conflict,
· behavior problems at home or school,
· trouble getting along with others,
· irritability,
· sadness or
· unmanageable worry.
This also includes evaluation of conditions such as
· attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
· oppositional disorder,
· anxiety disorders,
· depression, or
· children who have been exposed to traumatic events.
Developmental evaluation:
Examine the cognitive and social development and adaptive behavior (for example, communication skills, self-care) of children, and recommend services to improve social and cognitive development, learning, and life skills. This includes assessment of children who may exhibit developmental delays or autism.
Learning evaluation:
Assess a child’s learning skills and acquired knowledge, and recommend supports and services to improve a child’s successful learning. This includes assessment of intellectual abilities and academic achievement, and may include evaluation of specific competencies such as problem-solving, language and verbal reasoning, memory, executive skills (for example, forming intentions and carrying out an activity), visual-spatial ability, and analysis of reading, written language, and mathematics skills.
Risk assessment:
Evaluate individual, family/community, and situational characteristics associated with the risk that a child or adolescent will engage in a potentially dangerous act.
